Extra information:
This sherd features a stylised blue cornflower pattern.
It has been hand painted on a type of earthenware fabric called Pearlware or 'Pearl White'. Pearlware was created as a cheaper alternative to imported Chinese porcelain.
It dates from between 1790 and 1830. This pattern was extremely popular during the late Georgian era. The blue cornflower was sometimes referred to as a 'Bachelor's Button This piece is unique because you can see the underpainted lines and the painted fill of the petals.
The visible brushstrokes are a unique feature of this pattern
